Who we are

Australia Tamilargal Welfare Association is a group of people coming from diverse professional background but with a common passion and interest to “Give Something back to the community which has given so much to them”

This dedicated cohort of volunteers invest their free time to support the less privileged towards social causes such as Access to quality education, Financial assistance during natural calamities, Supporting Farmers and their families during difficult times and also executes projects to provide reliable and sufficient water to the communities that are in dire need. This ensures sustainability of water sources leading to communities becoming water secure in the long run.

Over the past 10 years, our dedicated volunteers loaded with a combo of skills, experience, expertise and passion, have contributed their hearts and heads for the success of the below humanitarian causes:

  • Provided relief material to Chennai and Cuddalore flood victims (2015)
  • Helped families of farmers who committed suicides due to drought; supporting them with life-stock (2016)
  • Restored canals (வாய்க்கால் தூர் வாருதல்) at Nagai District, benefitting 700 families across 4 villages (2017)
  • Arranged vigils and gatherings to stand strong with the people of Tamil Nadu, addressing key issues. For example, Jallikattu, Cauvery water dispute, Sterlite and Hydrocarbon extraction (2015 – 2017)
  • Conducted Moi Virundhu to raise funds for Harvard Tamil Chair (2017)
  • Restored canals at Thiruvaroor District, benefitting 8000 families across 6 villages (2018)
  • Provided relief material for victims of Cyclone Gaja (2018)
  • Raised funds for victims of Kerala floods; money collected was deposited in the Chief Minster’s relief fund (2018)
  • Facilitated and laid ground to bring together 21 Tamil associations, forming the Tamil Consortium of Victoria (2018)
  • Provided one year’s educational fee for 14 underprivileged children (2019)
  • Provided financial support for 45 underprivileged students (2023).
  • Raised funds for Kerala floods and donated to Chief Minister’s relief fund  (2024).
  • Provided financial support for 45 underprivileged students (2024).
